In the 25 years that the german thash lords have existed, you wouldnt expect them to change so late in the game........but they did!
Well, almost that is.
Right from the start you can tell that something is different about Sodoms brand new offering, simlpy called _SODOM_. The opening track "blood on your lips" begins with a haunting acoustic guitar intro, but shortly after that Sodom put in gear and proceed to tear your face off in typical Sodom fashion. Only this time Tom Angelripper sounds genuinly pissed off! This is fully demonstrated on tracks like "Wanted Dead" and "Lords Of Depravity". But the twilight-zone doesn't end there, because not only are they trying to teach a lesson in brutality, but they are also flexing their melodic muscles as well, on tracks lsuch as "Buried In The Justice Ground" and "lay down the law".
Perhaps Angelripper and co. felt the anty was upped when fellow countrymen Kreator released their amazing return to form album _Enemy Of God_ last year, or maybe they got tired of the endless slew of comeback bands and wanted to teach everybody a lesson in thrash. Whatever the reason, the subtle changes to their already impenetrable formulae, can definately be heard.
In short, Sodom have released the most epic, zero-bullshit album of their entire career. So if you were expecting yet another welcome-back-to-the-80's run of the mill thrash metal album, then i suggest you get rid of the skin tight jeans and sort your mullet out, 'cause Sodom in the 00's takes a nice long, steaming crap all over the 80's.
